all new porsche 911 2019 new

Porsche describes the new 911 as having a flat stretched silhouette, exciting contours, and precisely designed details. The vehicle's body is constructed of aluminum-steel and provides the Porsche with a weight reductions of up to 45kg (or about 99 lbs). The weight reduction is matched up with aerodynamic optimization, providing reduced lift while retaining a good coefficient of drag value. An example of the aerodynamic changes is the new wider, variably extending rear spoiler. Compared to the car it replaces, the next generation 911's wheelbase is about 100mm longer. This, plus the reduced height of the vehicle, will provide an even more muscular stance to the new 911. The Porsche classic wide arched wings extend to an even wider front track, giving off a visual impression of width. These wider attributes are matched up with new wheels, in sizes of up to 20". The exterior has also received remodeled exterior mirrors now located on the upper edge of the doors as opposed to the mirror triangles as seen on previous models.

Around back, we can identify two important changes. First up is the engine lid's grille, which ditched the previous design with horizontal louvers for a new configuration with vertical ones. The revised grille ads a touch of 19631964 Porsche 911 (901) to the 991, as it is very similar to the original 911's rear deck lid. To me, this is the 992.1's coolest feature in the exterior design. Second, the bumper received extra air outlets on each side, a feature borrowed from the Turbo models Although they're smaller than on the Turbo, they do play an important part in cooling the new turbocharged engine. Other details that set the 991.2 apart from the outgoing model are the longer lights in the bumper and the slightly reshaped taillights, now looking a bit sleeker and featuring small dents toward the rear deck. They also include four-point brake lights. When viewed from the side, the 991.2 can easily be mistaken for a 91. That's because the updated car only received door handles without recess covers and revised five-spoke wheels. The car does sit 0.4 inch lower, but that's not exactly noticeable. Same goes for the half-inch wider rear rims. Speaking of dimensions, the 991.2 is actually longer and wider than its predecessor, but it's not like you're going to notice it given we're talking about less than two tenths of an inch for both numbers. It's the height that's more significant, as Porsche lowered it by nearly half an inch.

No seminal shape has been as sympathetically evolved as the 911's. The car has grown larger over its five decades but all the instantly recognisable design cues the round headlamps, the arcing roofline, the lean, sucked-in proportions are reassuringly familiar. The facelifted, second-generation 991 can be identified by its vertical engine COver slats, in place of the horizontal items on the pre-facelift car. Porsche also fitted the 'three-dimensional rear lights that have featured throughout the company's model range. For us, the best-looking 991 is the GT3 with its subtly pumped rear wheel arches (44mm wider than the standard Carrera's), while the large spoiler on the engine COver helps generate downforce at high speeds. The deeper front and rear bumpers, extra cooling vents cut into the bonnet and grille and unique door mirrors are equally eye-catching, as are the huge 20-inch forged aluminium wheels that hide the GT3's massive optional carbon-ceramic disc brakes. A handsome dose of racer chic, then, and it's an impression that's confirmed when you climb behind the wheel.
